This jewellery box is veneered with an unusually pale myrtle - a very good alternative to burr maple which can sometimes be rather marked making it hard to select really clean areas to bookmatch. French polished, 12” x 8” x 5”
The interior has a single tray in maple and is lined throughout with claret leather.
This shows the quadrant hinge I use on most of my larger cases - these stop the lid just past 90 degrees. It also shows the corner of the tray with the laminated veneer splines I use to strengthen the corners.
The snakewood lines that decorate this box contrast well with the myrtle and serve to strengthen the curved lines.
