A curved sided, domed top jewellery box veneered with rare sycamore crotch veneer and decorated with dyed veneers. 15” x 11” x 8”, french polished.
The interior contains two trays in plain maple and is lined throughout with blue velvet and moiree.
This shows the two trays out and the drawer open.
The spring loaded drawer is opened by lifting a small turned boxwood finial situated along the back edge of the interior. This also shows the ring runs in the top tray.
The box is fitted with good quality brass quadrant hinges stopping the lid just past 90 degrees. This also shows clearly the laminated veneer splines or keys that I use to strengthen the mitres that join the trays.
This shows the way the multi-coloured wavy lines interact with the other lines - going under the straight lines and over the boxwood squares that protect all edges.
