This is a
colourful version of the board for this popular game. Made from
maple and dyed veneers it is intended as an antedote to the
highly decorated versions from the Middle East.
The playing surfaces are veneered with bird's eye maple and
the points are alternately purple and orange. Sounds unlikely,
but the combination seems to work. When making games boards
I use a 9 ply board which I laminate up myself from Finnish
3-ply birch - this produces a board that is more rigid and stable
for its thickness and weight than any other wood product.
