This box is one of about thirty I did for the Estate Agents Allsop's. These were presented three years running for the winning participants in their own internal squash competition.

Each triangular box was designed to contain 3 squash balls so was about 5" to a side.

As they were all dyed black I now can't remember what wood they were made from. I do remember that the dying process was difficult as the dye didn't seem to want to sit in the grain of whatever wood it was. The solution involved filling the grain with a black dyed filler before a second dying.

The joints of these were 60 degree mitres, strengthened by mitre keys. They were satin finished using a wax polish.
