the first curved top flute case I made - in American black walnut
This was the first curved top flute case I made. It was designed for the flute maker Robert Bigio to hold a beautiful 1896 Rudall Carte flute he lovingly restored. I wanted to keep it as light as possible and to get as close to the feel and shape of one of the original Rudall Carte leather covered cases, whilst still being essentially a wooden box. It is made in American black walnut and features a snakewood line around the lid. The fittings are good quality brass and it is finished in Danish oil and waxed.
